Why Create?

Why Create-

Day 13 of 21 Days of Creativity

Today’s blog post is a little different from what you are used to seeing on Sharifa Creates. It caters to the Spirituality and Inspiration portion of my blog. Feel free to respond to the question above in the comments section!

Why create?

Questions that start with why can be hard to answer, but for this question, my answer comes easy. I create because it is what I was made to do. Think about it. God is the ultimate creator. He created the heavens and earth and everything good within it (Genesis 1). God made us in His image (Genesis 1:27), gifting us with the ability to create. Some of us create new technology, medicine and laws while others create visual art, literature, and dance choreography. Although society may favor certain creative abilities over others, God has a purpose and plan for all of them.

People use their creative abilities for both good and evil. As a child of God and a follower of Jesus Christ, I must use my creative abilities for good and not keep them to myself (1 Peter 4:10). I share my creative gifts with others so they can learn new artistic skills and develop a space for positive self-expression. Most importantly, I use and share my creative gifts to honor God. When I allow God’s glory to shine through my work, others can embrace Him (Matthew 5:14-16).

I create for a purpose greater than myself.
