Simple Goals for 2016

With the start of the 2016, people are making huge New Year’s resolutions- everything from starting a business to losing weight. I set pretty big goals for myself as well, but in addition to them, I set a few simple ones. Sometimes I become so preoccupied trying to accomplish work that I forget to relax! These simple goals are no pressure activities that will allow me to enjoy the smaller moments of 2016 and learn new things about myself.

Read for one hour a day

There really is no excuse why I cannot read every day. I know I waste at least one hour each day aimlessly browsing social media. For the New Year, I’m replacing browsing with actual reading!

Write for 15 minutes a day

Another simple goal of mine is to engage in meditative writing for at least 15 minutes a day. Last year I began writing about my faith and it has only drawn me closer to God.

Spend time creating artwork

As much as I enjoy crafting and sewing, I also enjoy drawing and painting. I spend less time doing the lather because they usually turn into all-day productions (imagine paint, charcoal and paper piled on my kitchen table). My goal this year is to draw or paint in my sketchbook weekly whether I create something beautiful or ugly.

Visit coffeehouses

My last simple goal is to visit different coffeehouses. This way I can work in an atmosphere outside of my home. The great thing about this goal is that I can read, write and create art all while accomplishing it!

Take 15 minutes today to read, write down, and meditate on this scripture: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
  1. I like your goals, simple and realistic as well as good for the heart and soul 💕

  2. I definitely love the goal of reading for one hour a day! It’s a lot more practical and easier to accomplish than saying I will read X amount of books per month/year.

    1. Definitely! My past goals/resolutions always said things like read more or draw more, but I would never get anything done because I wasn’t specific. Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog post!
