August was an awesome month! I tried out some new art mediums and got back into sewing. In this blog post, I’ll share some of my favorite craft and sewing items from last month.
One crafting item that I absolutely loved working with was glitter. Yes, glitter! At first I was afraid to work with it. While pretty, it can be extremely messy. If you’re not careful glitter will follow you for a lifetime. But, I took the risk and pushed past my fear. The results were amazing! I created glitter glass votives (DIY coming soon!) and canvas art. Glitter is a very diverse medium and I plan to continue using it!
Ever wondered how coffee shops write such neat menus with chalk and not smudge every word. Do they actually use chalk? The answer is yes and no. They use chalk markers. I purchased chalk markers in August with the intention of using them for a glass board DIY project. I ended up using them to write on a mini chalkboard that sits on my desk. I recently re-organized my desk and needed to add something inspirational to it. I used the chalkboard and chalk markers to create a motivational message board. The chalk markers went on smoothly and the colors are vibrant.
Box- Pleated Skirt Sewing Tutorial
All summer long I had a Nicole Miller knit fabric sitting in my room. I had no idea of what to create until I came across a box- pleated skirt tutorial by Tabitha Sewer. This is what it was destined to be! The instructions given by Tabitha Sewer made the skirt super easy to make. They were clear and detailed. I will always use her box- pleated skirt tutorial to make more skirts. Her other sewing tutorials are great as well! I have yet to wear the skirt, but once I do, I’ll take pictures and write a blog post all about it.
