“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” – Luke 1:45, NIV
In 2018, I turned 27 years old. I remember being 17 and daydreaming about what I wanted to accomplish over the next ten years. Needless to say, life did not work out completely as planned. There is a gap between what I imagined doing and my reality, but that’s okay!
The world tells us that with growing older, we have less time to accomplish our dreams and goals. There’s a certain time to attend college, start a career, become a homeowner, and have a family. However, as children of God, these ideas are far from the Truth.
There are no expiration dates for pursuing God’s purpose for our lives.
God’s timing is perfect. This is one lesson I learned in 2018. I went through a season where I was frustrated with life. I felt I’d been stuck in the same place for years. All of my peers seemingly moved on in their education, careers, and personal lives. I was unemployed and struggling to create a successful business. Nothing seemed to be working.
In that low point, God showed me that He created everyone – including myself – with a unique life story. I had to stop comparing myself to other people. Every disappointing delay needed to happen. They were God’s way of protecting me from evil and premature success. Those disappointments taught me important lessons for the future. God assured me that things would work out in the season He’s purposed them to.
As you journey into 2019, take these words of encouragement with you: Focus on God’s kingdom and righteousness (Colossians 3:1-2). Remain faithful in the few things that He has placed before you (Matthew 25:23). And, most importantly, trust God’s perfect timing for your life (Luke 1:45).
I would love to hear from you! What has been your experience in trusting God’s perfect timing? Have you encountered a season that God used to mature or protect you before advancing you? Tell me about it in the comments below!

January 2, 2019 at 6:51 pmGod’s timing is so perfect! Sometimes, we take things into our own hands and try to rush God. When we live outside of His will, it never works out the right way!!!! Being patient and trusting in Him and His timing is so important.
