Heart Health

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” Luke 6:45

When was the last time you had a spiritual heart exam? Many believers suffer from spiritual heart “ailments” without knowing it. When these “ailments” go untreated, they can negatively impact our relationship with God and kill our witness.

Your heart’s desires regulate your actions. If your heart is filled with the fruit of the Spirit, your actions will reflect those of Christ. However, if evil rests in your heart, sin will follow.

How can your heart be healed? For starters, you need to be properly diagnosed. Take a pen and paper and write down the desires of your heart. Be honest – this exercise is between you and God. Ask God to reveal the desires that lie dormant.

Your prescribed treatment is a prayer strategy. Surrender your “ailments” to God. Ask Him to transform the desires of your heart and fill you with the Holy Spirit. Pray scriptures that reveal God’s truth and meditate on them.

Here’s an example of a spiritual heart exam:
