Heart Shaped Jewelry Dish DIY Tutorial

“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” – Luke 6:45, NIV

Pressures of the past year have triggered society’s best and worst behaviors. During the evening news, reporters share ways communities have united to make a positive impact. Yet, in a moment’s notice they switch stories to describe heinous crimes committed by mankind. These behaviors don’t materialize overnight. They come from desires that are stored within the heart.

Our heart’s desires regulate our actions. For example, if our hearts are filled with love, patience, and peace, our actions will be righteous. However, if evil traits such as envy, bitterness, and hatred rest in our hearts, sin will soon follow. We have to examine the ideas and attitudes stored in our hearts and decide whether to cultivate or eliminate them.

You should cultivate the good heart traits by finding ways to implement them in your life. Cultivate love by encouraging someone who’s going through a difficult season. Cultivate patience by not making hasty decisions that can do more harm than good. Cultivate faith by choosing to believe in the promises of God even when life isn’t panning out the way you expected. Even seek to increase the amount of goodness in your heart (Galatians 5:22-23).

If evil, of any sort, lies in your heart, you are not a lost cause. Jesus can remove the brokenness and heal your heart by filling you with the fruit of the Spirit. Humbly surrender to God and allow Him to take control of your life. Pray this prayer from Psalm 51:10-12, NIV:

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” In Jesus name, Amen.
