In January, many declared 2020 to be the year of 20/20 vision. It would be the year to achieve dreams and thrive. Well, 2020 threw everyone for a loop! Who would have imagined being in quarantine for months on end. Instead of declaring clear vision, people now describe the future as being uncertain.
Although we may not know what the future holds, we can be certain that God does know (Jeremiah 29:11). It’s important, more now than ever before, to draw into God’s presence! The Word of God reveals that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us (James 4:8). Only God knows what the future holds. He can provide us with insight of what is to come and prepare us for it. However, we must be in a position to hear from Him.

To be honest, I’ve never worn scrunchies. Still I always admired how they could effortlessly be stretched, twisted, and popped to hold hair in place. The process of learning how to make scrunchies was not nearly as easy as using them. It was like perfecting a recipe. Through much trial and error, I finally got the “formula” right! Friendship is a gift from God! Some of us have entire “girl gangs” while others have one “bestie”. Some friendships last a lifetime and others just a season. And many of us have become friends with the most unlikely people.
No matter what type of friendship we have, it must reflect the light of Christ. The moments we share with our friends should be filled with unconditional love, support, inspiration, and wisdom. Sure, every friendship faces challenges, but these hardships only mature and strengthen the relationship.
“But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.” – Isaiah 64:8, NKJV
Life is tough! At times it may literally feel like we’re being pressed together, picked at, and even cut down. Although uncomfortable, the hardships we face are not in vain. They are God’s way of molding us into who He created us to be. Each challenge develops our character, gifts, purpose, and faith in God! What results is a wonderful testimony of God’s grace and trustworthiness.

After going through my closet early this year, I came to the conclusion that I’m a fabric hoarder.
Yep, I said it! A. Fabric. HOARDER.
My closet is filled with fabric that I have accumulated over the years. When I go to the fabric store, I impulsively buy pretty fabric without knowing what to make with it.
I’m starting a new series on the blog that will combat this habit. I present to you Sew Sharifa: A Series of Sew-Along Blogs! At least twice a month, I’ll sew a new creation. This sew-along is not intended to be a tutorial, only a behind the scenes look at my creative process. Sewing regularly will help me cut down on my fabric supply!Continue reading “Open Front Ankara Print Skirt | Sew Sharifa Sew-Along”→
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” – Galatians 6:9, NKJV
Today is the official start of pumpkin spice- caramel apple- sweater- scarf- and boots- season. It’s the first day of autumn! In the past, I defined autumn by its marketable attributes. Only in recent years have I come to appreciate the fullness of autumn. The temperature is pleasant, the sunsets are more beautiful, and the air seems to be fresher. Most importantly, autumn is harvest season!
Here’s what I found when I looked up the definition of autumn:
I love watching HGTV – especially the hit show Flip or Flop! I can binge watch this show for hours. I enjoy seeing old homes being demolished and rebuilt with brand new designs and furnishings. The transformations that these homes undergo are incredible.
I’m so inspired that I decided to do a ‘flip or flop’ of my own – bedroom edition. Don’t expect anything drastic like hammering down walls or tearing up carpet. This makeover will be simple. I plan to re-paint my walls, update and reposition furniture, and add decorative accessories. My goal is to create a cozy, bohemian – style space for resting. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
God has placed treasures in each of us – unique physical and spiritual gifts. With these gifts, we have been called to glorify His name and draw people to Christ. Often we stifle our gifts because of fear. We fear failure, the opinions of people, and even God’s ability to transform our hearts.
We should not fear using our gifts for God’s Kingdom. God is with us! We are protected by His grace to do anything He’s called us to do. Walking in our purpose is the most fulfilling thing we can do. Continue reading “How To Make A Jewelry Box”→
