Have you decorated your home for fall yet? Some people decorate as soon as September 1st arrives while others wait until the official first day of autumn. No matter your preference, I have do-it-yourself fall décor projects that will keep your home warm and cozy.
Today, I will show you how to make a rustic rag tie garland. This garland is a versatile piece of fall décor. It can be a fireplace trimming, dining table runner, or coffee table centerpiece to name a few. The garland takes patience to create. However, if you recruit the help of your family, it can be completed quickly. It’s a way to craft and bond at the same time!
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18, KJV
September is here! It marks the unofficial start of fall for many people. They begin planning for cooler weather, early sunsets, and the holidays. While exciting, this season can also be a source of stress due to grief, finances, and pressure to finish the year strong.
As we enter the final stretch of 2022, I encourage you to practice gratitude daily. Find a reason to give God thanks. Thanksgiving places God above our hardships. When God is prioritized, He supplies our needs (Matthew 6:33). A grateful heart opens the door for our prayers to be answered.
Today’s do-it-yourself project is for a fall sign. You will learn how to make a stencil with a cutting machine and best practices for stenciling. If you do not have a cutting machine, stay tuned! I will post a tutorial on how to make stencils by hand soon.
Overall, I hope my Fall Sign DIY tutorial will remind you to always give thanks!

Letter banners are a creative way to send a bold, yet beautiful message. I use them as festive party decorations and dazzling statement pieces for my home. Although I adore letter banners, the process of making them by hand is tedious. In my original tutorial, I traced letters onto cardstock and individually cut them with an X-acto knife. My hands would beg for mercy *cringe*.
Last year everything changed because I bought my first die-cutting machine! After learning about all the innovative ways I could use this machine, I knew it would help me make banners with ease.
In today’s DIY tutorial, I will show you how to create a letter banner with cut files from my online shop. Let’s get started!
Last month, I created a painting named Brown Skin Girl as an ode to my childhood. The artwork depicts a little Black girl with two Afro puffs. Written on her face are the lyrics to Beyoncé’s song, Brown Skin Girl. In this blog post, I’ll allow you to follow along as I create this piece. As we go, I’ll share my personal story about coming of age with natural hair.
“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” – Luke 6:45, NIV
Pressures of the past year have triggered society’s best and worst behaviors. During the evening news, reporters share ways communities have united to make a positive impact. Yet, in a moment’s notice they switch stories to describe heinous crimes committed by mankind. These behaviors don’t materialize overnight. They come from desires that are stored within the heart.
Our heart’s desires regulate our actions. For example, if our hearts are filled with love, patience, and peace, our actions will be righteous. However, if evil traits such as envy, bitterness, and hatred rest in our hearts, sin will soon follow. We have to examine the ideas and attitudes stored in our hearts and decide whether to cultivate or eliminate them.
My favorite seasonal decorations are rustic fall signs. They are a wonderful way to embrace the cozy and festive atmosphere of autumn. These signs are easy to create! In today’s blog post, I will give you a detailed walk through of how to make a rustic fall sign.
To start, you need to draft a quick sketch of your sign. What shape do you want it to be? What do you want it to say? What colors will you use? These are all questions I answered before making my sign. I searched Pinterest for inspiration, specifically for cute messages. In the end, I decided to make two rectangular shaped rustic signs. One with the message “Autumn Skies, Pumpkin Pies” and the other with “Pumpkin Kisses, Harvest Wishes”.
After planning the logistics, gather your materials. Here is a list of everything I needed:
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” – Galatians 6:9, NKJV
Today is the official start of pumpkin spice- caramel apple- sweater- scarf- and boots- season. It’s the first day of autumn! In the past, I defined autumn by its marketable attributes. Only in recent years have I come to appreciate the fullness of autumn. The temperature is pleasant, the sunsets are more beautiful, and the air seems to be fresher. Most importantly, autumn is harvest season!
Here’s what I found when I looked up the definition of autumn:
I love watching HGTV – especially the hit show Flip or Flop! I can binge watch this show for hours. I enjoy seeing old homes being demolished and rebuilt with brand new designs and furnishings. The transformations that these homes undergo are incredible.
I’m so inspired that I decided to do a ‘flip or flop’ of my own – bedroom edition. Don’t expect anything drastic like hammering down walls or tearing up carpet. This makeover will be simple. I plan to re-paint my walls, update and reposition furniture, and add decorative accessories. My goal is to create a cozy, bohemian – style space for resting. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
God has placed treasures in each of us – unique physical and spiritual gifts. With these gifts, we have been called to glorify His name and draw people to Christ. Often we stifle our gifts because of fear. We fear failure, the opinions of people, and even God’s ability to transform our hearts.
We should not fear using our gifts for God’s Kingdom. God is with us! We are protected by His grace to do anything He’s called us to do. Walking in our purpose is the most fulfilling thing we can do. Continue reading “How To Make A Jewelry Box”→
