Saturday, August 12th marked the three year blogiversary of Sharifa Creates! My first blog post was a recap of my college graduation dinner party decorations. I posted pictures of jumbo tissue paper flowers, tassels, and leftover party favors. The pictures and descriptions were not the best, but I was excited to begin my blogging journey and see where God led me.
Sharifa Creates is still here (I stuck to it!) and it has grown so much since the very first time I hit the publish button. Many lessons came with this growth. For today’s post, I would like to share three of them with you.
1. Start where you are with what you have.

“Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.” Galatians 6:4-5
It happens every day. We scroll through social media and see family, friends, and complete strangers post about their new car, marriage, or career move. While we like their posts and leave congratulatory comments, we secretly begin to compare our lives to theirs. Why haven’t I met my soulmate? Why haven’t I received a promotion at work? Where’s my breakthrough? These are all questions I’m sure we have all asked at one point.
When life is not going as planned, it is easy to compare ourselves to our peers. However, comparison distracts us from pursuing God’s purpose for our life. We begin to focus on everything we lack instead of God. This tears down our confidence Continue reading “Stop With The Comparisons! | Motivational Monday”
Joshua 4:21-24: “Then Joshua told the people: Years from now your children will ask you why these rocks are here. Tell them, ‘The Lord our God dried up the Jordan River so we could walk across. He did the same thing here for us that he did for our people at the Red Sea, because he wants everyone on earth to know how powerful he is. And he wants us to worship only him.’” (CEV)
Prayer journals are beautiful tools useful for strengthening any relationship with God. I started prayer journaling shortly after I began college. I needed a way to document my relationship with God during those transformative years. I used my journal to write down scriptures, prayers, and lessons I learned along the way. Seven years and several journals later, I have a collection of my hardships and how God provided breakthroughs and blessings for each one.
Because of my positive experience with prayer journals, I really want to encourage you to start one. Here are four reasons to keep a prayer journal: Continue reading “4 Reasons To Keep A Prayer Journal | Motivational Monday”
Serving Christ is not as complicated as some make it out to be. We don’t have to speak grandiose words or look a certain way. We can simply use the very gifts God has blessed us with to serve. For today’s Motivational Monday, I will talk about what it means to serve Christ.
What does it mean to serve Jesus Christ? Why do we serve Him?

“God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful. Although we do not always see God at work, we can know for a fact He is protecting, providing for, and guiding us. God will fulfill the promises He made to us for His glory and our good. God blesses us with the knowledge, wisdom, and resources to do His will. The process may take longer than we expect and it may bring challenges. However, God’s timing is perfect and the hardships we face build our character and prepare us for the journey ahead.
It’s not always easy to believe God’s promises for our life, but we must be encouraged and push forward. We should think of everything He has already done in our life. It is said over and over, but it is true that if God did it before, He will do it again. If that does not encourage you, then open His word! It is the best way to remind yourself of God’s faithfulness.
For today’s Motivational Monday, I have compiled twelve scriptures about God’s faithfulness. Write, meditate on, and pray over them in every season of your life. You will know without a doubt in your mind that God is faithful.
