Fear is something that we battle daily. It knocks on our door as we prepare for a job interview or embark on a new business venture. It tries to hold our hand when a relationship we thought would last forever ends. And it attempts to wrap its arms around us after God reveals vision of our life.
While it is natural to experience fear, know that it is more than an emotion –it is a spirit. The enemy sees no problem in using it as weapon to prevent us from pursuing our God-given purpose. We can spend years bound by fear, unable to take the next steps in fulfilling our destiny. It is incredibly important that we learn how to overcome fear! It is God’s desire for us to serve Him by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with other people. We may feel unprepared, unwilling, and even fearful to serve. Yet with God’s word and the guidance of Holy Spirit, we are well equipped.
Read Mark 14:3-9. In this scripture, Jesus was anointed by a woman as He ate dinner with the disciples. She poured a jar of expensive perfume onto His head. This woman was judged and rebuked by those around her, but Jesus was blessed by her action – she had prepared His body for burial. This passage can be interpreted in a number of ways, but at its root this is a beautiful example of how to serve Christ.

There’s beauty in learning how to persevere. In spite of the setbacks you face, you must complete what God has called you to do – no matter how large or small the task. Refuse to let procrastination, perfection, or blatant fear hinder you. When you reach a breakthrough, you’ll realize that every hardship you faced worked to develop your character in Christ. That makes the victory even sweeter.
