Make it your goal to celebrate your accomplishments – even the “small” wins. Celebrate your work promotion AND finally perfecting a recipe. Celebrations do not have to be extravagant undertakings. Simply do whatever brings you joy! That may mean watching your favorite TV show with a glass of wine, getting a mani-pedi, or crafting a dazzling piece of home décor. Life is more fulfilling when it’s celebrated.
Today’s DIY offers a literal way to celebrate as I show you how to create a 3-D Party Banner. This project combines the results of my letter banner and confetti tutorials. Keep reading for instructions!

Tassels have existed since the beginning of time. They are created with unique materials in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. Many people see tassels as purely decorative items. However, tassels serve as everything from status symbols to cultural signifiers. They mean different things to different people! For me personally, tassels signify healing.
In the Bible (Numbers 15:37-41), the Israelites were instructed to attach tassels with a blue cord to the hems of their garments. The tassels were a reminder to keep God’s commands. Later on, Jesus wore the same tassel adorned garment while ministering to people. The sick would touch the hem of Jesus’ garment and be miraculously healed.
“And when the men of that place had knowledge of Him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto Him all that were diseased; And besought Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.” – Matthew 14:35-36 (KJV)

Admit it already; Christmas shopping is no longer your thing! It’s tiresome trying to find the perfect gift among crowds of people at the mall. They push and shove and do everything but put you in the holiday spirit. Then, once you find a gift, you stand in line for eternity to purchase it. Ugh! Don’t even get me started on the holiday traffic.
Here is my suggestion: skip ALL of that, stay home, and make your presents! With Christmas being 20 days away, right now is the best time to get started. You only need to take one trip to the craft store to buy supplies. Then you can stay in the comfort of your home. Put on a holiday themed onesie, fix a cup of your favorite spiced drink, and start crafting with this DIY Christmas Gift Guide! Continue reading “Craftsmas Day 4: A DIY Christmas Gift Guide”
While beautiful, Easter decorations can be quite intimidating to make. Easter baskets, floral arrangements, and eggs, especially, take a lot of energy and time to put together. I’ve personally steered clear of any decoration that involves eggs. You put so much effort into dyeing eggs only to throw them away after Easter is over.
Many stores now sell inexpensive faux eggs. They hold the same shape and texture as normal eggs, but are durable. This makes them easier to decorate.
Not sure how to decorate faux eggs? In this blog post, I will show you three creative ways. Keep reading to find out how! Continue reading “3 Creative Ways to Decorate Easter Eggs”
One of my favorite DIY projects on Sharifa Creates is the photo clip string set. I created it within the first few months of starting this blog. I enjoyed making it and felt so accomplished hitting the publish button on that blog post.
I love the photo string post so much that I decided to make my very first YouTube video tutorial on it. Yes, a YouTube tutorial! Some people learn well with written instructions while others need a visual or mixture of both. For this reason I decided to expand Sharifa Creates to video.

Have you ever received a box of chocolates as a Valentine’s Day gift and automatically cringed? I know I have. I’m never sure if it will taste like actual chocolate or cardboard. People give what they are able to afford, so I’m not here to judge. However, if you want to give your loved one a box of chocolates without being too cheap or spending huge bucks, then do-it-yourself. Create a heart shaped box of chocolate with treats that they’ll love! Here’s how: Continue reading “A Box of Chocolates”
I was a late bloomer to the ear piercing game. I didn’t get my ears pierced until a few weeks before starting my freshman year of college. I was so excited that I immediately purchased a bunch of earrings. Over the years that bunch has grown to a collection filled with earrings of all styles, shapes, sizes, and colors.
It wasn’t until I visited the jewelry section of the craft store that I realized I could make my own quality earrings. It wouldn’t take a lot of skill or time to create them either.
