I love watching HGTV – especially the hit show Flip or Flop! It’s interesting to see old homes be demolished and rebuilt with brand new designs and furnishings. The transformations that these homes undergo are incredible.
I’m so inspired that I decided to do a ‘flip or flop’ of my own – bedroom edition. Don’t expect anything drastic like hammering down walls or tearing up carpet. This makeover will be simple. I plan to re-paint my walls, update and reposition furniture, and add decorative accessories. My goal is to create a cozy, bohemian – style space for resting.
Creating a mood board was the best way for me to compile my bedroom makeover ideas. Mood boards are inspirational collages that are used to build specific themes. They are popular among interior- and fashion- designers, but can be used by everyday people to plan creative projects. In today’s blog post, I’ll bring you along as I make a mood board for my bedroom makeover.
Mood boards are similar to vision boards. I created my mood board using the Corkboard Vision Board tutorial here on Sharifa Creates. Click here for a supplies list and step-by-step instructions.
I started by painting my board with a unique pink and orange design. These colors along with light blue will serve as the color scheme for my room.
While my board dried, I found magazine images of unique bed frames, art walls, and desk spaces that fit the vision for my bedroom. I cut these images out and mounted them onto cardstock.
I glued two white clips to the corkboard and used them to hold my color palette. Then, I attached my images to the mood board using push pins. My mood board now sits above my desk. I can look at it for inspiration when I’m ready to buy and DIY new items for my bedroom.
