How To Make Confetti

I learned how to make cascarones (confetti eggs) in my middle school Spanish class. My teacher, Ms. Brown, asked each student to bring six hollow eggs. We dyed the shells bright colors and drew decorative designs on them. We then filled the shells with confetti and glitter before sealing them with tissue paper.

I had no idea why we were making cascarones. Ms. Brown only told us they were for our upcoming Cinco de Mayo party. On that day, Ms. Brown led us outside. To my surprise she began cracking the confetti eggs on our heads one by one! I was heated…at first. I had just got my 4c natural hair styled into mini twists (iykyk). As my classmates ran around, throwing, and cracking cascarones on each other, I had no choice but to join in on the excitement. I went home with a head full of confetti and glitter. Weeks later I was still attempting to comb all of it out of my hair.

I am always reminded of this memory when I work with confetti. It is such a versatile medium! Confetti is used to create everything from cascarones and gender reveal poppers to greeting cards and unique table spreads. Although confetti is normally purchased in-store, you can do-it-yourself. In today’s tutorial, I show you how to make confetti in three simple steps!

Letter Banner DIY Tutorial + Cut Files

Letter banners are a creative way to send a bold, yet beautiful message. I use them as festive party decorations and dazzling statement pieces for my home. Although I adore letter banners, the process of making them by hand is tedious. In my original tutorial, I traced letters onto cardstock and individually cut them with an X-acto knife. My hands would beg for mercy *cringe*.

Last year everything changed because I bought my first die-cutting machine! After learning about all the innovative ways I could use this machine, I knew it would help me make banners with ease.

In today’s DIY tutorial, I will show you how to create a letter banner with cut files from my online shop. Let’s get started!

How To Make Glitter Paint

Crafters and glitter have a love-hate relationship. While glitter is an exciting medium to work with, it is painful to clean up. It trails behind you long after you are done crafting. I could write a whole blog post on the strange places I have found glitter.

What is the solution? Glitter paint!

Normally, glitter is shaken into wet glue and then dusted away. This method causes glitter to spread everywhere. Glitter paint is applied directly to a surface which eliminates the need to remove excess glitter. It also seals the glitter, preventing it from rubbing off.

In today’s DIY tutorial, I will show you how to make glitter paint. Making it yourself allows you to customize the glitter’s color, shape, and size as well as the paint’s density. It is a simple process! Keep reading for instructions.

How To Make A Tassel Keychain

Tassels have existed since the beginning of time. They are created with unique materials in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. Many people see tassels as purely decorative items. However, tassels serve as everything from status symbols to cultural signifiers. They mean different things to different people! For me personally, tassels signify healing.

In the Bible (Numbers 15:37-41), the Israelites were instructed to attach tassels with a blue cord to the hems of their garments. The tassels were a reminder to keep God’s commands. Later on, Jesus wore the same tassel adorned garment while ministering to people. The sick would touch the hem of Jesus’ garment and be miraculously healed.

“And when the men of that place had knowledge of Him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto Him all that were diseased; And besought Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.” – Matthew 14:35-36 (KJV)

Brown Skin Girl | Paint With Me

Heart Shaped Jewelry Dish DIY Tutorial

“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” – Luke 6:45, NIV

Pressures of the past year have triggered society’s best and worst behaviors. During the evening news, reporters share ways communities have united to make a positive impact. Yet, in a moment’s notice they switch stories to describe heinous crimes committed by mankind. These behaviors don’t materialize overnight. They come from desires that are stored within the heart.

Our heart’s desires regulate our actions. For example, if our hearts are filled with love, patience, and peace, our actions will be righteous. However, if evil traits such as envy, bitterness, and hatred rest in our hearts, sin will soon follow. We have to examine the ideas and attitudes stored in our hearts and decide whether to cultivate or eliminate them.

Because Christmas brings me so much joy, I’ve always wondered how I can carry it with me throughout the year in a way that doesn’t include traditional décor. I finally figured it out! This year I made Ankara print fabric ornaments. They’re ornaments that can be used as everyday decorations whether winter, spring, summer, or fall.

In today’s DIY tutorial I will show you how to make Ankara print ornaments. If you don’t have Ankara print, you can use any piece of non-Christmas themed fabric. Let’s start crafting!

Abstract Art Fall Pumpkins

Thanksgiving is a few days away which means the fall season is coming to an end. I want to share one last fall project with you before the Christmas festivities kick into full gear. Instead of a DIY tutorial, I will show you the abstract art pumpkins I created to decorate my coffee table.

I used papier-mâché pumpkins, regular craft paint, and a little creativity to make these abstract decorations. When I first purchased these pumpkins, I imagined covering them in fabric or glitter. My goal was to create an unconventional fall craft that did not include autumn colors or patterns.

I was randomly scrolling through Instagram and found two unique nail art designs. The first was cow print and the other, bold geometric shapes. I decided to recreate the designs on the pumpkins rather than my nails.

Keep scrolling for images of the creation process and final product!
