“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” – Galatians 6:9, NKJV
Today is the official start of pumpkin spice- caramel apple- sweater- scarf- and boots- season. It’s the first day of autumn! In the past, I defined autumn by its marketable attributes. Only in recent years have I come to appreciate the fullness of autumn. The temperature is pleasant, the sunsets are more beautiful, and the air seems to be fresher. Most importantly, autumn is harvest season!
Here’s what I found when I looked up the definition of autumn:
What do you imagine when you think of fall decor? I think of pumpkins, scarecrows, and anything related to Halloween. Boring, right? Thankfully, fall decor is getting a much needed upgrade. Visit Home Goods or Target and see for yourself! Fall decor is now inspired by everything from rustic farmhouses to unicorns. Designers even incorporate unconventional color schemes.
When fall arrives you expect for the temperature to drop 10 to 20 degrees, leaves to change color and flutter from the trees, and for the local coffee shop to offer your favorite spiced drinks.
Well, fall began over a month ago and only one of those three things has happened here in Texas. I’ll give you a hint- it wasn’t the first two.
I’m not going to complain because to be honest, if it were cold, I’d wish it were hot outside. I’ll let Mother Nature do her thing and patiently wait for cooler temperatures. In the meantime, I’ll craft up fall decorations to help me get into the fall spirit.
