Learn how to make a throw pillow in this simple DIY tutorial. This is a great sewing project for both the novice and expert seamstress.
How To Make Throw Pillows
Supplies
- ½ yard of fabric of your choice
- Polyester Fiberfill (at least 20 ounces)
- Needle and thread or sewing machine
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Sewing pins
- Tailor’s chalk
Instructions
Fold your fabric in half, wrong sides out. Measure and cut a 16 inch square.
Sew three of the four edges using a 5/8” seam allowance. Only sew half of the fourth side. This side will be used to fill the pillow.
Flip the square right side out.
Stuff the pillow with fiberfill. The more fiberfill you use, the sturdier the pillow will be.
Hand-stitch the pillow closed. As you stitch, add more fiberfill to help straighten out the pillow’s fourth edge.
Now decorate! Your throw pillow will complement any bed, couch, or space of rest and relaxation.
